In order to create dynamic and efficient partnerships, the University of Pittsburgh’s innovation and licensing teams and the Office of Industry and Economic Partnerships are integrated into the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The combined wholistic approach results in a seamless experience for our external innovation and commercialization partners.

Since 2011, Pitt has seen 124 percent increase in startups, 66 percent increase in patents issued, 26 percent increase in inventions disclosures and 10 percent increase in licensing and option deals.

Over the past five years, Pitt received patents on more than 450 technologies which are available for licensing. Over the same period of time 80 Pitt-related startups spun out of the university.

OIEP publishes a quarterly list of opportunities for new creation, available technologies, and startups interested in connecting with investors.
